Life-size sculpture in progress

Commissioned by a private family, this maquette is for a life-size memorial to a remarkable man whose life and work were deeply connected to the landscape around him and, above all, to his family.

Rather than a formal monument, the sculpture is conceived as an encounter. He sits relaxed at one end of a garden bench, leaving space for someone to sit beside him. At life size, the bench becomes part of the work: a place to pause, share the view and spend a moment in his company.

A small lizard climbing the leg of the bench is one of several personal details woven into the sculpture.
